Douglas Battrum Obituary
DOUGLAS ADRIAN HOWARD BATTRUM died peacefully in Lions Gate Hospital in the City of North Vancouver B.C. on May 03 2016 at the age of 91.
Doug is survived by his eldest son Jim and his wife Yan, their children Justin, Alicia, Li and son-in-law Shang, as well as great grand daughter Shirley; his son Dan and his wife Pat of Coombs B.C; his daughter Joanne and her husband Lionel Townsend of Forest Grove B.C.; and his youngest daughter Dianne, her husband Oly Boersma and their sons, Robert and David, of Calgary AB.
He is predeceased by his wife Patricia in April 1992 and his brother Lewis in 2012.
Doug was a hard working and dedicated family man who had a passion for trains, planes, ships and photography. He was an active member of the Canadian Railway Historical Association, serving as President of the Pacific Coast Division for 20 years until stepping down to a Director's role in 2005. In recent years, he lived with his son, Jim, in Horseshoe Bay, where you could often find him watching the ferries sail and feeding the birds.
Douglas will be cremated and a private family ceremony will be held in July.
