Duncan MacGREGOR Obituary

MacGREGOR, Duncan Edwin March 6, 1925 - November 21, 2021 In the wee hours of Sunday morning, November 21st, the most gentle of souls, Duncan Edwin, passed away at 96 years of age, in his room at Lynn Valley Care Centre, with his family by his side. The loving care and compassion shown Duncan by all the LVCC Manor 4 staff during his four month stay was greatly appreciated by his family. Survived by Lois, his loving wife of 43 years, he was predeceased by his first wife Shirley, mother of Gordon (Ginny deceased), Cheryl (Dan), David (Donna) and Linda (Dave). He will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren Stephanie, Christopher, Lukas, Kayla, Markus and Zackery, step-grandsons Andy (Kim) and Taylor (Leah), as well as all those who knew and loved him. Born in Winnipeg in 1925, he always took delight in recalling the days of his youth growing up with his brothers Jack and Dick on Victor Street. As a young 18 year old, he joined the Navy in 1943, and served as a radar operator on the corvette HMCS Agassiz. After the war, he joined Burroughs Business Machines, was transferred from Regina to Vancouver in 1964, and was with them until he retired in 1983. After retirement he walked many miles each day on the West Vancouver seawall, making many new friendships among the other early morning walkers. Besides the bagpipes, family was everything to Duncan, loving them "to the moon and back". He has left them with many wonderful memories to cherish. Ever grateful that he was blessed with healthy grandchildren, watching the BC Children's Hospital Telethon each year often brought forth a strong show of his emotions, therefore if you wish, a donation to the BC Children's Hospital, or a charity of your choice, in memory of Duncan would be very much appreciated. A memorial service will be held in the new year. Condolences and memories of Duncan may be left at dignitymemorial.com.

He was a charming and dignified man, and it was a pleasure to help him with his health issues. He was a stoic patient. Sincere condolences to his many friends and his family. May he RIP.
