Edith Clark Memoriam

Edith passed peacefully at Richmond General Hospital, one year ago after a brief illness. An adventurer, "Mutti" was talented and creative, raised in Vienna to be a "culture vulture". A classically trained pianist and stage actress, she did a cameo in a Film Noir war-time documentary released in 8 countries, and was a published author. Emigrating to Canada during WWII, she went first to Edmonton, and then Yellowknife where she married William George (Bill) Clark of Estevan SK. They soon moved to Inuvik, loving the Arctic's distinctive beauty and its warm people. Daughters Janet Lee and Brenda Shelley were born inside the Arctic circle in Aklavik NWT, and Tracy Lynne in Vernon BC. They later moved to Vancouver, where Edith did her Masters in English Lit at UBC, and finally Richmond. She wrote 8 Sci-Fi Fantasy novels, short stories, plays, her memoirs, and a children's book. She was also a painter, member of the Riverside Artist Circle, and music teacher. "Mooty" to grandchildren Maximilian Amadeus, Abigail Vienna, and Cassandra Caitlin, and Aunt to Sharon, Lenny, and Linette. Mutti's favourite quote by Schiller: "If you want to travel to the stars, don't look around for company." Beautiful Mutti, cherished mother, author and friend, off exploring universes, you're missed daily and dearly here on earth.

Edith was a wonderful and very sympathetic piano teacher to my daughter. The years she taught her are fondly remembered.
