Gary Ramon DEANS

DEANS, Gary Ramon Born July 27th, 1947 in North Vancouver. He grew up in Burnaby with his parents, Veronica and James "Brodie" and his younger brother, Robert. Gary married the love of his life Kathleen (Hogan) in the summer of 1969 and had two wonderful children Shaun (Johanna) and Melanie. Gary loved his family, his boats, and his cars… not always necessarily in that order. He spent a lifetime relishing the tall trees, cold seas and mountain slopes of the West Coast. Gary was a Burnaby Firefighter from 1968 to 2000, where he made some of his best friends and served his community with enormous pride. During his retirement Gary loved making memories with his three amazing grandchildren, Samantha, Graeme and Taylor and sailing with Kathleen aboard Sunshine III where they welcomed many friends and family with a glass and an appie. Gary passed peacefully on October 6th, 2016 in North Vancouver. Gary developed a special relationship with Dr. Jon Stoessl at the UBC Centre for Brain Health and a deep appreciation goes to him. Gary would also have liked to give a "thumbs up" to all the compassionate staff at Lions Gate Hospital ICU especially Dr. Marck Hudon, Dr. Josh Douglas and Dr. Paul Sugar. Services will be held at St John the Evangelist Anglican Church in North Vancouver at 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration life at 3:30 p.m. at the Seymour Golf & Country Club in North Vancouver on October 21, 2016. In lieu of flowers, Gary would ask that donations be made to the Pacific Parkinson's Research Centre at UBC.
