Geraldine GILLESPIE Obituary

GILLESPIE, Geraldine Geraldine Gillespie entered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour. Geraldine (Gerry), born in Victoria B.C. September 28th, 1934. Geraldine is survived by husband Laurie, daughter Andrea (Craig), grandsons Teddy and Easton. Son Rob with grandsons, Owen, and Austin. She is predeceased by father Robert Armstrong. Gertrude Armstrong, mother, entered heaven November 1934. Geraldine grew up in Victoria spending 2 ½ years in solarium for crippled children. A challenging youth travelling across Canada alongside an evangelist father. As a survivor of a challenged beginning, she developed a three-pronged path that would be her identity for life. A relationship with God through Jesus, a quick and disarming humour, and an academic excellence in caring, completing her post graduate work graduating MSW, ready to serve at the hospital for sick children in Toronto. Married to Scottish born musical instrument lover she combined every family adventure with outreach into her communities. 1971 in Oakville, Ontario, beginning a school for the severely handicapped. After 40 years of marriage guiding several key youth programs in B.C., including an invitation from Dr. Bill Arnold, to specialize in the children's spina bifida clinic of Vancouver. Her energetic approach to life was driven by the desire to introduce hurting folks to a forgiving God. This underlying desire caused her to seek out friends and neighbours, offering a sacrificial relationship. She walked with her own children, supporting them in every endeavour. Being involved with ocean kayaking, offering every young person a loving ear. Thank you, Gerry, for teaching your family to live to give. It is doubtful you will be resting in peace. Rather, assigned by God to where she can rejoice in her eternal life, alongside her loving father. Until we meet again. Gerry's celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, September 23, 2021, at 1988 - 56th St., Delta, in a covid friendly outdoor facility. Prepare to come casual and leave as she would wish loved.

Geraldine was a neighbour many years ago when I first came to Tsawwassen. We were both parents of young children and we enjoyed some kids birthday parties together and shared some happy times together.
She helped me with my faith journey as a Bible study leader as well and sure helped me settle in the community.
Geraldine was a calm and generous woman and a devoted mom. I am sure she will be missed by her family and others close to her.

Although I lost touch with her over last few years,
