Gladys Rantz Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Lily Rantz on November 3, 2025, at the age of 89.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Violet Sveinson, and her daughter Bonnie. She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Larry Rantz; her children, Carla, Sandra, and Brian (Dena); and her beloved grandchildren, Cassandra, Jake, Charlotte, Bridget, and James.

Born and educated in Red Deer, Alberta, Gladys met her husband, Larry, in Edmonton. Together, they eventually settled in North Vancouver, British Columbia, where they built a wonderful life and made many cherished friends.

Gladys was the youngest of four children and a proud resident of North Vancouver for over 55 years. She worked at Eaton's for 16 years, enjoyed countless games of bridge with her lifelong friends, and delighted in traveling- taking more than 30 cruises and embracing each new adventure with enthusiasm.

Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at the Berkley Care Home in Deep Cove for their kindness and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For details or to reach out to her family, please contact [email protected].

Gladys was my Mom´s sister. When I was young I would fly to either Calgary or Vancouver to visit her every summer. She always made sure my visits were lots of fun. We went to the Stampede, Aquarium, park, ... i have so many fond memories of visiting her, Uncle Larry and kids. I loved her dearly and will miss our visits.

My mom Verna was Gladys older sister and Gladys boarded with us when she moved from her parents farm near Red Deer to Edmonton. My aunt Gladys was such a sweety. Us kids enjoyed watching the Flinstones with aunt Gladys. She laughed so much and got us all laughing at how goofy Fred and Barney were.
