Gordon MCGILLIVRAY Obituary
MCGILLIVRAY, Gordon Allister
May 14, 1924 - October 27, 2024
The beloved husband, father, granddad, and great-granddad of the McGillivray Clan passed in October during his 100th trip around the sun. He was born and raised in Winnipeg during the Great Depression and had an unwaveringly resilient attitude towards life. A proud veteran of WWII, Gordon was a pilot in the RCAF. He was deployed to England, serving there until victory in 1945.
After service, he married his sweetheart, Jane. Their union lasted until Jane's passing 71 years later.
Gordon studied electrical engineering and began his career with Westinghouse in Ontario, while Jane had her hands full with the first two of four boys.
In 1956, the growing family settled in North Vancouver, where Gordon spent the next several decades designing electrical equipment for the GVRD's fresh water and wastewater systems.
After retiring in 1989, Gordon and Jane split their golden years between Edgemont Village and Bowen Island. With their four sons now grown, the pair travelled extensively and doted on their six grandchildren.
Gordon maintained his independent spirit to the end of his days, living alone well into his 99th year, after losing his beloved Jane in 2017.
Gordon and Jane are dearly missed by their sons, Roger, Art, Ian, and Scott, as well as their daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We are grateful for the gift of time their longevity bestowed upon us and hope they are together again in spirit, as they are in our hearts.
