Ian Petrie Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share that Ian passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 83.
Ian was born on June 28, 1942, to Frank and Edna Petrie in Vancouver, B.C. He graduated from Lord Byng High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia.
After receiving his chartered accountant designation, Ian began a career he thoroughly enjoyed, starting with Gardner McDonald and following mergers, Touche Ross, Deloitte & Touche, and finally, Deloitte. He was recognized with an FCA for his professional achievements and community activities in 2009. He sat on many boards, including the Rotary Club, West Vancouver Library Foundation, and Hollyburn Country Club.
Ian was a true gentleman: kind, thoughtful, and generous in spirit. He had a great sense of humour and loved to tell stories. He and Carolyn shared a love of travelling, especially cruising, and they enjoyed visiting many different countries. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, and following the stock market. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family. Sunday night dinners were a cherished tradition.

Predeceased by his parents, brother Alan, and sister Marion, Ian is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 58 years, Carolyn, children Suzanne (Johnson), Brenda (Mark), and Craig (Marnie), and beloved grandchildren Makena and Cayden.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care and compassion provided by the team at the North Shore Hospice and Dr. Sasha Smiljanic.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
