Marion McRae Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share that Marion Jennifer McRae (Schmidt), 71, died peacefully in North Vancouver on April 27th, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends. She is survived by her beloved mother, Yvonne (100 years), sister Hilary (Baruch), sister Andrea (James), her devoted niece, nephews, grand nephews, cousins, godchildren, and Lilly, her canine companion.
A proud alumna of Shawnigan Lake School (Strathcona Lodge), UBC, and Western University, Marion built a meaningful career with Chevron and Telus. She loved travelling, shopping, sailing, hiking, and skiing with friends and family. Her fashion sense was impeccable. Almost as impressive was her delightful assortment of charming eccentricities, as evidenced by her massive collection of ornamental rabbits.
Marion had an extensive network of friends locally and wherever she sailed. She touched the lives of all those who crossed her path. She will be remembered for her selflessness, generosity, loyalty, charm, and commitment to her family and friends.
We extend our unwavering gratitude to Rose and David, all her devoted friends, and the members of the healthcare teams who provided exemplary love and care to Marion in her final weeks, and over the many years that she battled lung cancer. She was known by her doctors as someone with exceptional gratitude, fortitude, and grace; one who defied the disease and the odds for over 10 years.
A celebration of life has been held in her honour. In her memory, consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.
