Maureen POWERS Obituary

POWERS, Maureen Anne
January 22, 1942 - July 31, 2023

Maureen passed away after a 3 1/2 year battle with Lewey Body Dementia, a terrible incurable disease that showed no mercy. She is survived by her brother David Powers in Burlington, Ontario.

Maureen was a gentle quiet person who read voraciously and liked the quiet life. Notwithstanding that, she was also insatiably curious about the world and explored it extensively via the magic carpet her long-time Canadian Airlines, then Air Canada employers gave her. She also loved BC's outdoors lifestyle, skiing, cycling and hiking with her long-time partner Phil.

Rest in peace Maureen,
you will be missed - and remembered.

I always wondered over the years whether Maureen stayed in Vancouver or returned to Calgary. I was a co-worker there as was Maureen for CP Air (later Canadian Airlines and finall, Air Canada in Reservations. I had transferred there from Pearson Airport in Toronto. I knew Maureen to a very active outdoors person and where better to do that but Calgary, on the doorstep of Canada´s great National Parks. No sooner than I arrived there, CP Air amalgamated it´s Reservations Services for all of Western Canada and the United States to Vancouver. So Maureen would not have lost a step as far as outdoor recreation was concerned. I wish I had gotten to know her better, but she always struck me as a fine, well headed person, who was focused, and would spend her life doing those things that she loved. RIP, Maureen !
