Nathalie Berard Obituary
LAFAYETTE - Private Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 am on Friday, August 10, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Nathalie "Putsy" Berard, 79, who passed away on August 8, 2012 at her residence.
Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.
Mrs. Berard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Walter LeBlanc of New Iberia, Louisiana and the former Nydia Babineaux of New Iberia, Louisiana. She was a past New Iberia Sugar Cane Queen, loved to dance, was an exercise enthusiast and referred to everyone as "Darling." She loved to travel to the beach and never went anywhere without being dressed up and her hair and makeup perfect. She loved going to LaFonda's and the Petroleum Club for friend and family get togethers. She loved coffee and never met a stranger. When she walked into a room, it would light up with her essence of joy. She was larger than life.
She is survived by three daughters, Deadra Touchet and husband Tommy of Lafayette, LA, Karen Ellis of Lafayette, LA, and Angela Thibeaux and husband Bernard "Ben" of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Lacie Lee, Tara Luquette, Nathalie Ellis, Bonnie Brackeen, B.C. Thibeaux, III, and Dailey Thibeaux; three great grandchildren, Ashlyn Lee, Jax Lee, and Jordan Luquette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dailey Berard.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to their Hospice Nurse, Jill Cranfill and her caregivers, Faye Eaglin, Carry Jean Carter and Zabrina Bernard.

To the family, I found this obituary for "Miss Putsy" that greatly saddens me. I grew up in Houma and the Berards were neighbors. Deadra was my best friend until the family moved to New Iberia. I was crushed! My memories of the whole family are wonderful...miss Putsy was always so engaged with any kids that were around and my parents enjoyed both miss Putsy and mr Berard. I know that

Putsy was like a member of our family. She and Dailey added so much joy to my parents life. We always enjoyed their banter and reports of their Friday nights at LaFonda's and their vacations together. She could light up a room with her laughter, the sparkle in her eyes and her love of life. We follow a pathway that has no end
as we travel through life day by day.
Together with those who are dear to our hearts
and are there by our side, come what may
But sometimes a loved one must travel ahead
for reasons that aren't always clear.
And we're left behind to continue along,
missing one who is no longer here.
