It Seems Like Only Yesterday When I would stop by Bo's house to see him, his parents and Nadine and Jeff. Most of the time we would sit in the den and share stories and talk about the days events and be analyzed by Bo's Dad and Mom! The house on West Wilson Street was truly a part of the village that raised me. How I miss and cherish the times that we shared and Bo will always be a part of my life even though he's not here. My Love to you, Nadine and Jeff!!

My heartfelt condolences to the Mathes family. I grew up across the street on W. Wilson, loved to watch Bo and his partner pull up in the patrol car, then his Corvette! Great man, great family, I adored them all.

I'm proud to call Oliver my Uncle!!! I am so lucky to have gotten the chance to know you, and have you watch me grow up. Now you are sitting in Heaven, and I'm even more luckier cause we all have an amazing angel watching over us!!!

It is my hearts desire that God will clothe you in his Peace, Love, and Comfort as he heals your broken hearts in "Bo's" passing. I had the pleasure of knowing the Mathes family through Oliver Mathes Jr., known to McConnell Elementary students as "Mr. Oliver," who taught me how to work and earn a living, and to get a solid education (spending many Saturdays with him cleaning the school, and then going to Church on Sunday with the family-Mr. & Mrs. Oliver, Bo,Nadine, and Jeff before he would give me money to go roller skating on Sunday afternoon). After college at Michigan State University, I worked with "Bo" as a fellow police officer with the Pontiac Police Department, and enjoyed his wit and kind heart. I thank God for the blessing of this family, knowing a bright light has been extinguished on this side of eternity.

We are saddened by yet another death in our family. However, there is a brighter day ahead where there is no more death, tears, nor sorrow, and we will all be together once again, and forever. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family, Nadine, and Jeff.

I have known you for 35 years, as long as I have been a Sheriff's Deputy. Not having seen you in several years is grieving me so much now, but you are HOME, and for that I REJOICE!!
Your brother Jeff and sister Nadine will continue to remind me of the Mathes family's quality of showing Jesus' love to all they meet, as you did on this fallen earth. Ollie, it was always a pleasure riding with you in a patrol car. You were always mild mannered, but got the job done with everyone being happy. I'm sure that you remember working at the Silverdome one night in the 80's. You and I got a picture with Mr.Chuck Berry. I still have that 8 x 11 photo and still look at it frequently and proudly tell my friends that this is my partner and friend Ollie Mathis and that we attended the Police Academy together. I will always remember you with good thoughts and look forward to seeing you again in Heaven.

He was a great man. I will never forget our talks. AMC is so sad to have lost a great security officer. Meeting his family you could see and feel all the love when they were together..... He will be deeply missed. There is a amazing angel looking after us all!!

Torri, I was lucky enough to go on most of the field trips during the years you attended Auburn Elementary. I remember a lot of moms making those trips, but only one other father. Your dad and I always joked about our "two man club" and I always looked forward to enjoying his company on the bus rides.We got to renew the friendship years later when you joined the track team at Avondale.We always had a good laugh talking about the good old days when you and Nick were little. He was a kind and decent man, but most of all, a dedicated father. You have my deepest sympathy.

To the entire Mathes family!!!
Mr. Mathes would come in the bank I worked at in Pontiac every week and he always had a smile on his face, and he was always so nice and pleasant. He would always wait in line just so I could be his teller as he said I was his favorite. He was a wonderful man and my thoughts and prayers go out to each and everyone that he managed to love throughout his lifetime. Best wishes being sent to all of you.
