Penelope McDONALD Obituary

McDONALD, Penelope "Penny" Jeanne
(nee Mallet)
July 26, 1940 - March 3, 2024

Survived by husband Don, adored sons Scott (Sophie, Portia, Ethan, Jewel); and Joule (Kathryn, Rigby), Penny passed away after an intense battle with dementia.

Penny's passion for photography and writing led her to a career writing for magazine publications and newspapers. In later life she turned to writing children's novels and self-published two novels, "The Dolphin's Ring" and The Emerald Collar." Penny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who loved wholeheartedly. She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 2 pm at the Boal Chapel in North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of BC would be greatly appreciated.

I was very sorry to read that Penny has passed away. Penny was a charming lady, and a brave patient. I was honored to receive copies of her two books at her medical visits with me. Sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

Penny, my Sister, I miss you very much. We had so much fun travelling together to Palm Springs for 5 years.
We traveled to the Island to visit relatives. You always drove. I appreciated that as being from the Kootenays and a small City I did not drive on my holiday other than the 8 hour trip to the Coast to get to your place. I did this for many years for our 2 weeks of fun together year after year.
We loved to shop and enjoyed eating out as much as we could. We talked for hours on end.
You were my mentor, you taught me so much. I was and am so very proud of you. Your accomplishments were many.
I love you big Sister. You are at peace now. Someday we will be together again. Barbara

Penny was a lovely woman, a fabulous writer and a wonderful friend. I feel fortunate indeed to have had her in my life, and will miss her now that she's gone. My sincere condolences to Scott and Joule and the rest of her family. Rest in Peace, Penny. I know we'll meet again someday, but in the meantime, I will cherish the memory of your gorgeous smile and loving heart.
