Ruby CURTIS Obituary
HUNT- CURTIS, Ruby July 18th, 1927 - June 9th, 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Hunt Curtis. Ruby is survived by her two children, Gillian (Phil) and Paul (Kathy) and her three grandchildren Morgan, Samantha and Olivia and Ross Curtis's family, Charles (Kathy), Donna (Gerhard) and daughter- in- law Leslie, (sadly predeceased by her beloved husband Greg Curtis.) Ruby was predeceased by both her beloved husbands, Malcolm (Mac) Hunt and Charles Ross Curtis (Ross). Ruby was known for her grace, impeccable style and her sparkling personality. Born in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales, Ruby's early life as a true Welsh lady found her performing classical concerts and oratorio as an outstanding contralto soloist. She was a classic beauty and met Mac, her first husband during World War II. Mac and Ruby married in 1951 and continued to live in Wales until 1967 when they emigrated to Montreal, Canada. Here they spent many happy years with their children and grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed their cottage in Vermont every summer where the parties began! They always enjoyed travelling together and when Mac retired, they officially became snowbirds and flew south each winter to Florida with many good friends in tow. Mac passed away too early in 1995. Eventually Ruby decided she needed a new start and moved to West Vancouver where her daughter Gillian resided. She quickly became a member of West Vancouver United Church and became a tireless volunteer with the Pandora's Vox Society that found her attending to front of house duties at concerts and events. She was known for her charmingly successful approach to selling raffle tickets as well as her hard bargain driving at fund raising flea markets! After some time, Ruby met Ross, another West Van United member and they quickly became friends and eventually married. During their 20-year marriage they were constantly travelling the world and enjoying their companionship. Ross sadly passed away in 2020. After a wonderful life filled with lots of love from friends, family and two wonderful husbands, Ruby passed away peacefully at the Inglewood Lodge in West Vancouver. Much heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful Lodge staff who cared for her with dignity and professionalism. No service by request. For those who wish to honour her memory, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Godspeed Ruby
