Shirley Brooks Obituary

It is with great sadness that we lost a very caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend,

Shirley Brooks (nee Garner).

She leaves behind Fred, her loving husband of 63 years, daughters, Diana(Ross), Sharalyn(David), Colleen(Ken) and son James(Lixan) ; 8 grandchildren and one great grandson.

She was predeceased by her parents, Othel and Blanche and her brothers, Duane and Keith.

Born in the faming community of Moosejaw Saskatchewan, where she and her family were surrounded by extended family. At age 13 the family moved to Ontario for new employment opportunities. In her early twenties, she went to Bible College and then her and a friend moved to B.C. to seek new adventures. While working in Westinghouse Transformers, she met her husband Fred. They married, had 4 children and built a house in North Vancouver.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting and swimming and keeping up with family and friends. In their retirement, Fred and she enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel and cruising exploring new places and meeting new friends.

A Memorial will be held at a later time.

Sharalyn - did not know your mother well but know she had a lovely daughter who was beloved by my daughter back in the day. I am sincerely sad for you and yours.

I am saddened to hear about the passing of your mom, Sharalyn. My memories go way back to high school and early adulthood when you and I were friends. Your mom always had the brightest smile and seemed genuinely interested in everything we had to say. Sending my deepest condolences and wishing you peace during this difficult time. My very best, Karen Tschenscher (you would remember me as Grills or Acaster)
