Remembering Shirley-
She never seemed shattered; to me, she was a breathtaking mosaic of the battles she's won.

Shirley was the best teacher I had at Capilano University. The BEST! No wonder her office hours to meet with us students after classes were booked full with us all wanting time with her. She gave me confidence to continue on with my law studies. Such a brilliant teacher. I will never forget her.

I had the great fortune to work with Shirley on a committee at Brooksbank School many years ago. Besides her career at CAPU, she was an expert source of information, help and support to us school trustees and staff. She was instrumental in a school fundraiser cookbook launch one year and to this day, our family still uses her pineapple dessert recipe that she personally contributed. It is delicious. She had a smile that would light up the room and everyone adored her. Behind that million-dollar-smile, was a smart and clever woman with a heart of gold. Good-bye Shirley, you sure were loved.

I was sorry to read about Shirley in the North Shore News. I hadn't seen her in quite a while - but have very fond memories of us as "co-chairs" of the Women's Advisory Group of the fledgling North Shore Health Region. Those were the days! I'm so very glad we got to meet and work together. She was a breath of fresh air.
Kind regards, Deanna Wilson
