Suzanne Justice Obituary

She was just the best. A wonderful, enthusiastic, generous, and loving woman. Always positive, with an instinct and knack for parties and people, plants and pets.
Daughter of Wawa and Susu. Brother to Big John. Lifelong cherished partner to Beans. Mother to Christopher and Patricia, and Jane and Bill. Gumby to Jazz, Miles, and Leela. Second mother and great friend to so very many.
Born in New York City, she moved to a small chicken farm on Herd Rd in North Cowichan at the age of six, then attended Queen Margaret's and later Duncan High.
After a degree at UBC, she and newlywed architect Beans built a funky and welcoming West Coast home tucked in the woods near Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. There she happily stayed for 66 years, surrounded by marvelous greenery, a variety of beasts, and a constant flow of friends and family.
There were frequent visits back to the island to see her parents and her childhood and lifelong chums, regular sojourns to Banbury, where a new community of kindreds evolved, many explorations of the Gulf Islands, and a few grand trips abroad.
After a long and happy life, she had a good and peaceful death following a short and rapid decline. She died in the familiar comfort of her home, well cared for by the wonderful Libby, and in the attentive presence of her children and other close friends.
