Sybil Hunden Obituary
In Memory of
Hunden Sybil Lillian
1917 – 2018
Sybil was born Sybil Lillian Norgrove of Welsh parents in Fernie in the Kootenay and raised in Cranbrook, BC. After Normal School she taught at Canyon and Kimberley. She married the love of her life David Hunden in 1940 and had a full, long life. When David went off to WWII she continued to teach as well as trying other jobs. As a teacher she found her passion and inspired and invigorated the minds of her students. She continued to teach after the War but she also became a traveller. She was an army wife for 20 years and once hosted diplomats in Quetta, Pakistan, eventually coming back to Canada and settling in Vancouver, BC.
She had one son, Evan John, who married Pamela Hawes, and they gave her two precious grandchildren, Thomas N and Carolyn S. She was a wonderful, supportive, encouraging and loving wife, mother and Grandma. Her niece, Joni Graham and husband Ron, visited often and were always there for her.
Sybil was the life of the party. Her wit was fast and her smile was easy. She was always the most colorful person in a room and charmed anyone who was lucky enough to meet her. Her pies were a treat not matched by any other cook. She was truly a character and there will never be another like her. We miss her already.
