William Lougheed Obituary
William (Bill) Elgin Lougheed passed away in Lions Gate Hospital, surrounded by his family, on December 19, 2025.
Bill was born on October 9, 1928, in Inverness, Quebec, to Reverend Albert and Katherine Lougheed.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Vernon, Keith and Jack, and sister Sadie. He is survived by his wife, Marlene, daughter Nicole, and numerous nieces and nephews in BC and Ontario.
Bill was a self-made man, putting himself through law school while working full-time, ultimately co-founding the law firm, Allan & Lougheed. He was also a voracious reader, and when he retired after practising law for 50 years, his favourite place was sitting in his armchair with a book and a cat on his lap.
He and Marlene travelled widely and made friends around the world. He loved fast cars, a finely tailored suit and a good Chardonnay. Bill will be remembered as a bon vivant, a family man, a quick wit, a sharp intellect, and someone who truly embraced every aspect of living.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. Remembrances can be shared via the McKenzie Funeral Services website.
