Zoe Longeway-Lewis Obituary

Zoe Longeway-Lewis 1989-2014 . Corey Longeway and Richard Lewis regret to announce the passing of their daughter Alexandra Zoe Longeway-Lewis, on May 17, 2014. Zoe left us peacefully, surrounded by those she loved most, including family and friends, her brothers and sister, and fiancé Scott MacKay. Everyone who knew Zoe was better for it, and we remember her lovingly as being caring and generous in spirit. Zoe recently completed her first year in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Recreation Management at BCIT, and was excited to start her job as a parks operator on the North Coast trail this summer. She also completed her Business degree at Capilano University, worked at Arcteryx, Whistler Mountain and Mount Seymour Resorts. She was an active athlete, a nature (and especially dog) lover, who rode her bicycle twice from Vancouver to Seattle to raise money for the Ride to Conquer Cancer, as well as being active in the snowboard, mountain bike and forest stewardship communities where she lived. Zoe was a member of the To The Max cycle team, supported her favorite charity "Beyond Boarding" and "World Wildlife Foundation", and was a self described 'forest sweeper' who removed trash from the mountain areas where she loved to live and play. The family wishes to thank everyone at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver for their compassion and care for our little girl during her last few precious days, and to all Zoe's friends who came to say goodbye, thank you so much from all of us. A private service will be held in High River, Alberta, and friends and family will gather in love and remembrance at Mount Seymour ski resort, in North Vancouver, British Columbia on Sunday, June 1, 5-9pm for a celebration of Zoe's life. I had the pleasure and the privilege of being Zoe's Prof for 3 of her classes at CapU. I was devastated to read of her passing in the NS News.
Some students stick in the mind for being bright, for their personality, their humour, their work ethic. Very few stick for all 4 reasons. Zoe was one of these. The world will be a sadder place for her passing

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

Rick and Corey,
My heart breaks for you at the loss of such a beautiful daughter. Inside and out. You both raised her with so much love. She was a true genuine spirit to life. Her love for living was a true inspiration to those around her. Her love for dogs was something I truly related too. I can't imagine your pain. I do know she is in a magical place, surrounded in light as she too was a bright light. She will come to you whenever you call upon her spirit. Every time you see a feather know she was just with you.
Sending the Lewis and Longeway family much love, including Scott and all the pets.
Helen, Cor, Janny and family

Corey & Rick,
Much love to you both has you grieve the unimaginable for any parent; the loss of a child. We only had the pleasure of meeting Zoe a couple of times, but have heard glowing updates from her loving auntie, Leanne, over the years. I had the pleasure of meeting her again as an adult very recently when she'd come to the island for a visit. What a strong, beautiful young woman she'd become! To lose someone so vibrant makes no sense but Zoe's bright spirit will live on in all those she loved dearly. In deepest sympathy, with love,

Dick,

I remember thinking that you are a fantastic father when you would tell me about the trips and cool things that you and Zoe would do together. Your great parenting has influenced the way I bring up my son.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dawn and I are always here for you.
