Copan, Alexander Daniel: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Daniel Copan on the morning of Friday January 19, 2024 in the Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Jean (nee Gray); daughter Terri (Greg) Coleman; sons Randy (Barb) Copan and Kelly Copan; grandchildren Steven (Kirsten), Jeff, Travis, Hayley, Spencer, Quinn and Kirin; sisters Marlene Overman, June (Ron) Williams, Treasa (Paul) Martin, Millie Stushnoff; brothers Frank (Lorraine) Green and Bob Green; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Agnes Green and William Copan. Alex was born March 1939 in Foxwarren Manitoba. He moved to Edmonton when he was 15, where he met his wife Jean and raised their 3 children. He worked in the electrical field, often travelling to remote locations in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Northern Alberta and BC. He loved the beautiful landscapes and meeting interesting people. Alex and Jean semi-retired to Kelowna in 1992 where he took a job closer to home at the Penticton Foundry. This past September, Alex proudly received an award for belonging to the IBEW LU424 in Edmonton for the past 65 years. Alex was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 288 Westbank where he enjoyed meeting friends and playing crib. He was very proud to be a part of the Westbank team that competed in the BC Legion Crib provincial tournament last March. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing for salmon on the coast and travelling to visit friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation. A celebration of life will be held in Alex's honor in the spring. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:
