Beverley GORMAN Obituary

GORMAN, Beverley Joyce: Was born in Kelowna on March 18, 1954. She left us her life-long memory on November 2, 2016. Raised in Westbank above the shores of beautiful Okanagan Lake, she was a strong swimmer and always loved the water. Her fiery independence soon took her out into the world where she worked in hospitality, retail, partnered a construction business, studied finance & management, started an import & marketing business, partnered in Portfolio Planning for Investors in Real Estate (California), and finally returned to the Okanagan to develop & successfully implement the transition from founding to second-generation operation of her parents lumber business: Gorman Bros. Lumber Ltd. She served as a Manager & Director of the Company until she retired. Bev possessed an incredible sense of design, built stunning living spaces and filled them with exotic treasures discovered indulging her great passion for travel and experiencing the world. Whether it was on a motorcycle or the deck of a cruise ship, she loved the open road and the myriad of surprises it offered. She circumnavigated the globe in both directions and visited over 70 countries, several of them many times. Her favorite collection was 16-18th century French poterie. Bev was loyal, honest, had a great sense of humor, detested hypocrisy, self-righteousness, or any kind of condescension and lived her life accordingly. She raised and loved Siamese cats throughout her life, enjoying their unconditional love in return. Bev is predeceased by her father John Milton Gorman and her mother Edith Ella Gorman (Chatwell). She is survived by her four siblings and their families. Bev is survived by her husband of 40 years, William (Bill) Reedy, for whom she wove a life's tapestry, wondrous and filled with the kind of happiness and love that most will say they only dream of... There will be a celebration of Bev's life, open to all who knew her, held on November 20, 2016 in the 19 Restaurant at the Two Eagles Golf Course in Westbank/West Kelowna. Drop by anytime between 3-6 pm. There will be eating, drinking, toasting, laughter & tears, but no formal service. No flowers or donations, please. The love you gave Bev is all she ever wanted.
