Daniel Lamacraft Obituary

Lamacraft, Daniel Arthur: June 1, 1953 - December 17, 2025 Dan passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, surrounded by his family, after bravely battling cancer. Born on June 1, 1953, in Scarborough, Ontario, Dan grew up with a strong sense of curiosity and independence. As a young adult, he made his way west across Canada, beginning a life defined by hard work, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. It was during these years that he met his first wife, began his career as an electrician, and started his family. Dan had a lifelong love of nature and found peace in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and spending time in the quiet beauty of the natural world. This love made it only fitting that he would raise his family in the small northern town of Stewart, where they lived until the late 1990s. Those years were filled with outdoor adventures, close community ties, and lasting memories. In 1999, Dan moved with his family to Penticton. Later in life, he met his wife, Debbie, with whom he shared many meaningful years. Together, they lived in Penticton and later in Dease Lake, continuing to build a life rooted in simplicity, nature, and companionship. Dan was a skilled craftsman with a creative and generous spirit. He loved woodworking and carving and took pride in creating things by hand. Whether working on a detailed project or helping someone bring an idea to life, Dan was always willing to share his skills and knowledge. He also cherished the simple pleasures in life-especially spending time with friends over coffee at Tim Hortons, where conversation and laughter were just as important as the coffee itself. Dan spent the final nine months of his life in Penticton, living with his oldest daughter and her family. During this time, he was able to reconnect with family and friends, sharing memories and moments that will be deeply treasured. Dan was predeceased by his wife, Debbie; his parents, Arthur and Jean; and his sisters, Georgette and Patricia. He is survived by his sister, Debby (Scott); his son, Daniel (Christie); his daughters, Clarissa (Nick) and Tiffany (Kyle); his four grandchildren, Sahara, Zane, Echo, and Isla; as well as his nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, care aides, doctors, and staff at Penticton Regional Hospital, with special thanks to the compassionate team on the 5th floor who cared for Dan during his final week. A memorial service will be held on January 31, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Homes Chapel, 1258 Main Street, Penticton, BC. Dan will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his love of the outdoors, and the quiet, meaningful moments he shared with those he loved.
