WESTLEY, Deborah Anne: Deborah Anne Westley passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, at Moog & Friends Hospice House, Penticton, BC, at age 60, following a recent cancer diagnosis. Debbie was born June 25, 1963 in Nelson, BC, the second child of Ian and Phyllis Loomer. Not long afterward, her family moved to Edgewood and then Armstrong, BC, where Debbie started school. Another move brought the family to Penticton, and finally to the orchard in Summerland. After graduating from Tillicum School in Penticton, she worked at 180 Industrial Avenue, and received support from Penticton and District Society for Community Living. This meant she could live independently, which was important to her. She lived on her own for several years until she met her husband Robert. They were married in 2004, and enjoyed their life together very much. Debbie loved traveling, first with friends and later with Robert, and Disneyland was a favourite destination. Debbie and Robert also took several trips around BC. She competed in the Special Olympics, and enjoyed bowling, swimming, rug hooking, colouring, and her Tim Horton's coffee. Debbie loved music, and as a child would listen to records for hours in her room. Not surprisingly, her favourite shows were movie musicals, and she was also a big fan of the Elvis Festival in Penticton, which she attended with Robert. Debbie was affectionate and determined, with a good sense of humour. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Robert Westley, her brother, Donald Loomer, her sister Ellen Lutje and brother-in-law Owen Lutje, and her friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, her grandmothers and several aunts and uncles. Thanks to Penticton and District Society for Community Living for their long-term support of Debbie. A special thanks goes to the staff at Bruce House for their exceptional care of her the last couple of years, and to Andrea, who assisted her in recent years. Thanks also to the nurses at Moog & Friends Hospice for their care. A memorial service will be held at the Everden Rust Funeral Chapel, 1130 Carmi Ave., Penticton, on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am. Condolences and memories may be shared by visiting
