Douglas Moore Obituary

Moore, Douglas Edward: Born in Penticton, BC - January 22, 1936 Passed away - November 6, 2025 With deep love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Douglas Edward Moore. Doug was the youngest of ten children, born in Penticton, British Columbia to Rose and Welland Moore. After losing his father at a young age, Doug grew up surrounded by his older siblings and the freedom of the outdoors. Summers were spent on baseball diamonds and winters on outdoor rinks - early passions that reflected his lifelong love of sport, friendship, and community. He met the love of his life, Beverley Ward, and they married in 1957. Together they raised three children Raymond, Maureen, and Glenn and built a beautiful life grounded in family, love, and hard work. Doug's children, along with his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, carry forward his steady strength, humour, and kindness. Doug was always proud of the work he did as an electrician. He began his career with Betts Electric, completing projects across British Columbia, including the expansion of Kelowna General Hospital in 1967 - a job that brought the family to Kelowna, where they flourished among orchards, ballparks, skating rinks, and ski hills. Later, he built his own electrical contracting company and went on to serve as Maintenance Manager at Orchard Park Mall. Even after retirement, his skill and reliability were recognized when he was invited to work with Krueger Electric. In his later years, working in the orchards alongside his good friend, Taylor Sebastian, brought him much happiness. In everything he did, the job was done right - and done with pride. He was rarely without a loyal canine companion by his side, each one spoiled with treats and affection. Doug also held a lifelong fascination with railroads, especially the Kettle Valley Railway. He spent many joyful hours working on his model railroads, capturing the magic of the trains he loved. Doug was also a faithful blood donor. Throughout the years, he donated over 100 times. He will be remembered for his hard-working hands, his gentle heart, and his deep love of family. His legacy lives on in the projects he completed, the people he knew, and the family who will forever hold him in their hearts. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Daniel Obedkoff and nurse, Patti. At Doug's request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honour him in your own way - by taking in the beauty of a passing train, supporting local minor sports, or donating blood.
