MATHYSSEN, Frank: October 13, 1941 - December 16, 2025 Frank Mathyssen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Sunridge Place in Duncan, BC, at the age of 84. Born in Suriname, Frank was raised in the Netherlands before emigrating to Canada in the late 1960s. In 1965, he met and married Johanne, with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage before her passing in 2007. Frank built a long and dedicated career, retiring after 35 years in service and quality control for Moduline Industries in Penticton, BC. In 2010, while wintering in Holtville, California, Frank met Yvonne, his loving wife and companion. After spending several years dividing their time between Summerland and Shawnigan Lake, they ultimately settled in Duncan to be closer to family. Frank had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening in his later years. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne, of Duncan; his daughters, Charmaine (Park) Heffelfinger of Bowen Island, and Sabrina (Callum) Greig of Victoria; his cherished grandchildren: Franny, Ema, Jaxson, Corson, and Lauren. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Johanne Mathyssen; his sister, Marion Priebe; and his brother, Henk Mathyssen. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC. To express condolences, share memories and photos, please visit:
