I was so saddened to recently learn about Greg's passing. He was a wonderful mentor to me during my master's degree at UBC. Greg was a champion for Indigenous rights, and he taught me so much about Indigenous ways of knowing. He never hesitated to share his resources with me to help me achieve my master’s degree. He touched my life in many ways, and I will always remember him as a passionate professor who cared deeply about his community. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have had the privilege to share some wonderful moments with Greg. He shared some of the most profound teachings with me and for all of this, I am truly grateful. Greg has influenced my post-secondary and has helped me succeed since day one. Shared the TRC with me as we had a visit with the event in Vancouver and helped me understand that I wasn't alone. There are thousands of Indigenous Peoples affected by the colonial systems. Prayers go out the family, friends, co-workers, students and everyone who has and is affected by this great loss. <3

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I went to school with Greg in Lahr and I remember him as a fine young man. You must be so proud of him and will miss him dearly. God bless you.

Aaniin Boozhoo to you, Greg's family
I send you prayers of support as you say good bye to your precious Son, Father, Brother. My heart is saddened by his too early departure from this Earth - an enormous loss for the many people who love him, but especially his family that he loved dearly. When Nimkish came into his life Greg's heart expanded and he loved being a Father to her and Aisha more than anything.
The legacy of Greg's devotion to his work will benefit Indigenous artists forever. I will miss crossing paths with him, our intense conversations about our projects, talking about our kids, and sharing good-natured gossip about mutual friends. He always really cared about how people were doing.
May he rise peacefully to the stars.
With loving kindness,
Cathi Charles Wherry, WSANEC, BC
