Gunter Klaus Horst GLOGER

1929 - 2018

GLOGER, Gunter Klaus Horst: December 25, 1929 - December 17, 2018. It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father. Surrounded by his family, Gunter closed his eyes one last time at the Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna, BC. He is survived by his sons Wolfgang (Pat) Gloger, Ralf Gloger, daughter Jutta (Leslaw) Cyrynowski, his dear friend Ingrid Weber, Ruth Wagner and Anneliese (Horst) Schmidtke in Germany, his grandchildren Derrick Gloger, Martina Gauthier, Savannah Dawe, and Rhys Gloger, and great-grandchildren Liam and Hank. He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Hilde (2007), son Heinz-Jurgen, parents Paul and Hedwig Gloger, and 2 siblings. Gunter was born in Strehlen, Germany. After becoming an accomplished sheet metal mechanic he moved his family to Hannover where he started his career at the Bahlsen factory. In 1967 the family immigrated to Canada, living in Medicine-Hat for over a year, and then settling in Edmonton AB. In his early retirement both Gunter and Hilde moved to Kelowna to enjoy the warmer climate and to pursue their passion of gardening, fishing and traveling. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gunter's name to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, or to a charity of your choice.
