Harvey PLEWIS Obituary

PLEWIS, Harvey Douglas "Doug": April 1, 1964 - March 1, 2019. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Doug. He is survived by Monique Plewis, his beloved daughter, Madison and stepson Darien, his parents Terry and Yvonne Plewis, his sister Pat Wheatley and niece Rebecca, his sister in law Cheryl Plewis and nephew Jesse (Mike's son) as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his older brother Mike and step father Bob Henderson. Doug started his career with Wolfe Chev Olds in Vancouver. He was a staunch GM man and his knowledge of vehicles could not be challenged - his champion was Bob Brown. Doug loved music and in his younger years played in a band - his drums are silent now. He was also a writer of poems and many of us have some in our possession. His greatest joy was his daughter Madison! But we will all remember him best as the "Funniest Guy" on two legs. Rest in peace, Dougie - we love you. A Celebration of Doug's life will take place Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 2:00 p.m. at the Shatford Centre, 760 Main St., Penticton. Please accept our most sincere condolences to the loss of a very special man. Doug was an incredible person who touched so many of us with friendship, smile and witty personality. We especially want to thank Doug for all of his guidance during Richard's health issue. Doug was ready and willing to share his own experience and wisdom from his health scare at such a young age. He took Richard under his wing , guiding him through a scary time in our lives. We will forever be thankful to Doug for this. Sending hugs to the family, especially his beloved Madison. Life is a precious gift. We shared the gift of Doug's life with us. It grieves us that his time was cut short. Now we share the most beautiful gift he gave us, his daughter Madison.
Yvonne, thank you for being his supportive, loving mother and always ardent cheerleader.
Monique, thank you for being the woman who shared his love and unfailingly spoke strength and truth with admiration for the strengths and gifts of this man you married.
Madison, thank you for your sweet, unfailing love for your dad. Thank you for shining bright the light from the flame that lit both your lives.
Darien, thank you for your loving, steady presence in supporting your mom and your sister throughout their journey.
This is a great loss to us and I believe a great loss for those who really never got to know Doug and share his laughter, gifts and aspirations.
To find the diamond one has to dig deep. What a joy when that diamond is discovered!
My heart goes out to all the aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and others who shared in Doug's life.
