STALMANS, Hubert: January 5, 1927 ~ January 13, 2018. Hubert (Bert) Stalmans passed away suddenly, on January 13, 2018, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family. He had recently celebrated his 91st birthday. Bert is survived by the love of his life, Jean, whom he was married to for 62 years. He was loved dearly by his three children Robert (Janet), Gail (Mark), and Debbie (Dean), four grandchildren Stephanie (Matthew), Daniel (Scott), Courtney (Elliot), and Ryan (Danielle), and four great grandchildren Liam, Jaxon, Brynn, and Remy. Family meant everything to him. Born in Coleman, Alberta and raised in Vancouver, he moved to Penticton with his family in 1971. Bert was a jack of all trades and enjoyed careers as a fisherman, logger, real estate agent, and small business owner. He was an avid golfer and proud member of the Penticton Golf and Country Club. Bert was a kind, outgoing, sometimes stubborn, but always very well-liked person, who was the life of the party. He will always be remembered for his great storytelling, humorous antics, love for animals, and knack for finding and rescuing stray golf balls. No formal service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Society.
