Ilona LUCZI

LUCZI, Ilona (Helen): September 5, 1928 - March 6, 2026 Ilona "Helen" Luczi (nee Elek) passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 97 years. Ilona was born in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. She married the love of her life, John Luczi, in 1952; they came to Canada in 1957. They worked very hard to give their sons and daughters a wonderful life. Ilona's biggest joy was her family. Her greatest gift to her children was teaching them the Hungarian language. Through the years, Ilona and John lived in Regina and West Kelowna, and most recently Ilona lived in The Lodge at Valley Ridge in Calgary. Ilona is predeceased by her parents and all ten siblings in Hungary, and her husband of 68 years, John. She is missed by her loving family: sons Paul (Jane) and John (Kari); daughters Kathy (Greg) and Susan (Rick); grandchildren Cameron (Hana), Cara, Matthew (Jenna), Zenon (Jacklyn), Marika (Shane), Johnny, and Reilly; and great-grandson Arlo. She also leaves behind cousins, nieces, and nephews in Canada and Hungary. A Memorial Service will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. For those wishing to attend the service virtually, please use the link from the website.
