Joan Hiele

Hiele, Joan: Joan passed away on Sep. 25, 2023, with her loving husband by her side. She is sadly missed and remembered by all her family and friends; her husband, Hubert Gierga, special stepdaughter Nicole (Colin), sisters Maureen Brennan, Rosemary Wells (David) and sister-in-law, Patricia Brennan, her nieces and nephews Denise Downton (Scott), Maureen Ryan (Shawn), Erin Brennan, and Ian Brennan. She also leaves behind her Dutch Family; Robert and Belia Hiele, Ellie Ruts and their children, and her beloved Newfoundland friends. Joan was sadly predeceased by her parents, Josephine and William Brennan, her first husband, Ben Hiele, her brother, James Brennan, and her nephew, Glen Brennan. Joan had an amazing ability to light up a room with her presence. She brought love, warmth, and compassion to all her family and friends. She had so many talents. Joan freely shared her joy of music; she had a beautiful voice and could harmonize to any tune. She was a fabulous hostess and an amazing cook. Her crafting and sewing abilities, inherited from her mother, were truly remarkable. Joan revelled in her travel adventures and was inspired by all she met. She excelled in all she did including her successful career at BMO and her ventures into theatre. Joan loved all her friends, too many to mention, but all very dear to her heart each and every one of them! Prayers of Remembrance will be held Sunday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church, 14010 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church, followed by Graveside prayers and a Celebration of Life at the church hall.
