JORDAN SHADE Obituary

SHADE, JORDAN: June 18, 1985 - Feb. 24, 2026 Jordan Shade, 40, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Burnaby of cardiac arrest. Born in Vancouver, he graduated from Pinetree Secondary School in Coquitlam. Following graduation, he settled in Oliver but soon moved to Penticton. He owned and operated Interior Daily News, Mr. Shade's Media, and Penticton Daily News, focusing on entertainment and sports coverage. He also worked part-time in security at the Penticton Public Library and the SOEC parking lot, held positions at Walmart and Canadian Tire, and occasionally worked as a photographer for The Penticton Herald. Jordan was a people person and fiercely loyal to those close to him. Jordan's loves in life were many. He became fascinated with politics at all three levels and always volunteered to help with campaigns, first with Jason Cox and many others to follow. Recently, he was elected to the board of the Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay Conservative riding association. He attended well over 100 Penticton City Council meetings over the past decade, often alongside Lynn Kelsey and Brigid Kemp. During this period, he became engaged and, in August 2025, lived out a long-time dream by running as a candidate in a summer byelection. He finished in the middle of the pack but impressed voters with his performances at all-candidate forums and his passion, door-knocking for hours. Although he came up short, he was pleased that Shannon Stewart won the byelection. He enjoyed committee work and volunteered with Ignite the Arts, the Penticton Northwest Elvis Festival, Ironman Canada and the Penticton Peach Festival. He was also the No. 1 fan for many years of the Survivorship Dragonboat Team. Jordan's other interests included all sports (he loved the Edmonton Oilers), country and rock-and-roll music (especially George Strait), concerts, photography, cooking, and computers, the latter of which he excelled at. After nearly 20 years in Penticton, he moved to Burnaby last fall to be closer to his grandmother. Jordan is survived by his grandmother, Catherine Jorgenson, as well as several uncles and cousins. There will not be a funeral service, but a Celebration of Life is being organized by his friends James and Gisele Miller for Sunday, March 15, from 11 a.m. until noon at Highway 97 Brewing Co., located at 200 Ellis Street in Penticton. Everyone is welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jordan Shade's name may be made to KidSports Penticton (kidsportcanada.ca/british-columbia/penticton) or an arts-and-culture Charity of Your Choice.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jordan“s passing. I knew him through his YouTube presence, and I appreciated him more than he probably ever realized.

I first got to know Jordan online during a particularly difficult time in my life. He was always a positive, encouraging, and genuinely fun presence in any stream we happened to be part of together. Even through a screen, his kindness and good humor came through clearly.

My favorite memories are the live streams where Jordan would walk around his community, proudly sharing the places and people that meant so much to him. You could feel how much he loved where he lived and the community he built around him.

Rest easy, Jordan. May your memory be a blessing to all who knew you, both online and beyond.
