JUDITH DUNLOP Obituary

DUNLOP, JUDITH OLIVIA: May 9, 1949 Belfast, Northern Ireland - October 29, 2025 Penticton, BC Left to mourn her absence are her partner of 32 years, Neal Gochee, brother Alastair (Johanna) Dunlop, sister-in-law Win (John) Dinn, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended church family and friends worldwide. They will keep her memory alive. Judith was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Joan Dunlop, and will be laid to rest with them in Ontario. Judith came to Canada with her family from Northern Ireland at the age of ten. After her university graduation she became a teacher. Her affiliation with the United Church allowed her to teach English as a Second Language in Japan for three years; then she taught high school and adult evening classes in Toronto, and later, in Calgary AB. Her dedication earned her many accolades from students and faculty alike. She traveled internationally for work and pleasure. With her wry smile, a twinkle in her eye, her Irish wit and her explorations in faith, she befriended many on her journeys and maintained contact with them for years. She retired from teaching as a cancer survivor and moved to the Okanagan with Neal by her side. Beyond her brilliant intellect Judith was a phenomenal outdoor enthusiast. She loved skating, skiing, dancing, hiking, cycling and never passed up an opportunity to get outside. She spent many weekends on Lake Ontario with the Toronto Sailing Club and won awards at their regattas. It was her great joy to regain her health and to sail again on Okanagan Lake. Judith was committed to many choirs and loved singing, participating in as many concerts as she could and revelled in music weeks at Naramata Center. Judith harnessed her personal growth and healing on all levels. A consummate student herself, she shared her knowledge generously, connecting with practitioners and friends alike. She marvelled at children and they gifted her with their achievements and sorrows, because she received them with compassion and an open heart just as she welcomed many loving cats into her heart who were a constant source of joy and comfort to her. Judith's heart was always full, passionately sharing her talents at Oasis, and with friends and family at Farleigh Lake, where she proudly shared the homes she and her beloved Neal built together. (Cheeky Blessings and Guinness all around.) Memorial Service at Oasis United Church, 2964 Skaha Lake Road, Penticton, BC at 2pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Donations in Judith's honour can be made to Oasis United Church.
