Kevin ADE Obituary

ADE, Kevin R.: March 17, 1948 - May 25, 2018. It is with the deepest sadness and sorrow we mourn the sudden loss of artist, writer and poet Kevin Ade on May 25th. Loving and proud father of Patrick, beloved and close friend of his former wife and partner Karin, Kevin had an unbridled passion for people and the world and environment around him. Also left to mourn are his extended family in Scotland - beloved niece Sarah, dear older brother Robin, and many other nieces, nephews and close friends. Born in Vancouver, Kevin grew up in Germany and Wales as an RAF kid. In 1973 he traveled to Canada on an adventure and never left. He loved B.C., it's wildness and beauty, and was a tireless advocate for it's environment and the people who live here. Kevin created deep and loving friendships and community ties everywhere he lived over 20 years in Kelowna, and this last 2 years on Pender Island, where he really and truly found 'home'. Kevin was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. If you would like to honour Kevin's memory, donations to an environmental non-profit of your choice would be appreciated.

I visited Kevin on Pender Island in the fall of 2017 for mentoring in the arts, though we had met years before in Kelowna while both working for Parks Services. He guided me on painting and drawing supplies and how to let go of controlling the artistic process. I was thinking about him this New Years’ Eve while downtown picking up a new paint brush and mixing palette and inquiring about framing for a beautiful print of his that I purchased during my visit. I will remember him as a kind, gentle, and creative soul. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.

Dear Kevin, you are so very missed. So many things we should have said to one another that we never did. But we had our amazing boy, and your indomitable spirit lives on in him. I hope you've found a peaceful stream to fly fish, and some beautiful women to draw and paint. You will always have a place in my heart.

My sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in knowing that those who die God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes.
