1974 - 2017

VARETTE, Kristopher Richard: November 13th, 1974 - May 30th, 2017. With grave sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful son, our brother, our best friend on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the age of 42. Losing Kris will forever change the lives of all who loved him so very deeply: his mother Sharon, his dad Cam, his brother Kevin, his nephew Finbar, nieces Lucie and Noa, best friends Keefe and Graeme, Aunts Patti, Paula, Maureen and Diane, Uncles Peter, Greg (deceased) and Richard, cousins John, Ginny, Caitlin, Rachel, Bridget, Adam, Oliver, Shane, Eric and Patrick; second family Ben, John and Chris Healy; all of the Kourany family; father Richard Dorion and family; and our incredible extended family and friends in Kelowna and Ottawa. Kris moved across the country to be close to his mom and dad. Once here, he fell head over heels in love with Kelowna and British Columbia. He was so fortunate to have a terrific job with Brookfield GIS - his best career experience ever with wonderful colleagues and associates. Kris was an outdoors guy with a passion for sports - his pursuits included golf, fishing, kayaking (while fishing), skiing (most elegant skier on the mountain), playing and watching hockey (especially his beloved Sens). We will miss his quirky sense of humour, his gentle smile and kind heart, his soft blue eyes, his introverted chattiness, his high culinary standards, his relentless teasing and most of all his strong loving hugs. A huge piece of our existence has vanished, but we will rebuild our lives the way we know Kris would want us to. A small, private Celebration of Life will be held in Ottawa, Kris's home town, later in June. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC SPCA Kelowna Branch.
