Mary Kathleen Chapman

Chapman, Mary Kathleen: 1927 - 2025 Kathleen passed away peacefully on 7 July 2025 at the age of 98, having led a full and vibrant life. Predeceased by her husband Richard in 2015, she is survived by her children Lesley, Sue (Paul), Heather (Patrick), and John (Cindy), along with grandchildren Sarah, Jacob, Ross and Gareth. Kathleen was born in Oldham, England, and came to Canada in 1952 to work as a registered nurse in Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay). The cold did not deter her and she embraced life in this new country. She loved adventure and when she later moved to Vancouver to work at St. Paul's hospital, could be found canoeing down the Fraser River or skiing at Cypress Mountain. Kathleen met her soulmate Richard at a YMCA dance in Vancouver and life's adventures expanded from there. Working throughout BC, they settled in Penticton in 1958 with time off spent travelling. They enjoyed hiking and camping adventures, driving to Mexico, and visiting relatives in England with side trips to "the continent", all with children in tow. Kathleen was well known in the community, volunteering as a Rotary Anne and managing Pine Hills Golf Course during the children's school years. She continued her passion for nursing in later years, performing home-based medical exams. Being a lover of music and a pianist, she enjoyed attending the symphony at every opportunity and was a big supporter of community arts in Penticton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) or the Penticton Art Gallery. A Memorial Service will be held on 22 July 2025 at 2pm at the Everden Rust Funeral Chapel, 1130 Carmi Avenue, Penticton.
