Nancy CHALMERS Obituary

CHALMERS, Nancy Anne: The family of Nancy Anne Chalmers of Penticton, BC, is saddened to announce her passing on August 10, 2025 at the age of 82. She was a beloved wife, step-mother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Gerry; step-children, Carole (David) and Bill (Brittany); step-grandchildren, Alyssa (Ian) and Sean; sisters, Heather (Ewan) and Beverley (John), nieces, Erin and Corinne. She will also be dearly missed by her many friends in the Red Wing Resorts community. She is predeceased by her parents and her first husband, Donald Eckstein. She was born on October 13, 1942 in Edmonton, Alberta and was raised by her parents, Jim and Rose Patterson in Kimberley, BC. Nancy trained as a nurse in Vancouver and her early career as a nurse took her to Kimberley, Trail and Montreal. She finished her distinguished career at St. Paul's Hospital as the Director of the Renal Program. She was a well-respected member of the healthcare community in British Columbia. Nancy travelled extensively during her lifetime and she went to many, many countries-Italy, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, the USSR, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Japan, to name but a few. Later in her life, she never met a cruise she didn't enjoy! She was an avid reader and loved to share her love of books. Nancy was renowned for her cooking skills and she enjoyed hosting dinner parties for friends and family. Nancy was an active member of her community, serving as Social Committee chairperson of the Red Wing Resorts Homeowners Association, then Vice President and finally President of the Association. Nancy loved to plan a party and she and her social committee friends held many fabulous events at the Red Wing Clubhouse. She was a mainstay at Monday and Wednesday Bridge sessions. She also volunteered at various agencies in the larger community of Penticton over the years. A Celebration of Life is being planned and details will follow. Donations in her memory can be made to a Charity of Your Choice. Nancy and Gerry were supporters of the Okanagan-Similkameen Hospital Foundation. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the doctors and wonderful staff at the Penticton Hospital for their care and compassion.
