JOHNSON, OSCAR IRWIN: February 27, 1928 - September 26, 2025 With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad on September 26, 2025, at the age of 98. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Noreen. Oscar leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength and family; Children, Gary Johnson (Karen) of Bentley, AB and Linda Harcott (Ken) of Penticton, BC; grandchildren, Michael, Melanie (Pat), Matthew and Derek; great-grandchildren, Freyja, Henna, Aurora and Gideon. He will also be dearly missed by Owen, Nixon, Audrey and George and many others from his loving, extended family. Dad's career as a civil engineer started with Cominco in 1948 and ended with Cominco (now Teck) in 1987. During that period he and mom moved over 10 times and lived in various cities and towns across BC. During this time, Dad actually built three different family homes. The last home was on Christina Lake and they lived there full time from his retirement in 1987. This was beyond a doubt, their favourite place. In 2019 we convinced them to move to Penticton to be closer to us and have more care available. What a joy it was having them both near us during their final years. Dad was a thinker, not a talker, and loved sports. Although he only participated in golf and curling, he had a deep passion for grouse hunting. He also loved to read and would sit for hours with a book until Mom called him to help in her rock garden or until he got hungry and wanted to have his next meal. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Ingvald and Ethel Johnson and his sisters, Adeline and Eileen. He is survived by his brothers, Ray (Dixie) and Allan (Wendy). We will all miss Dad beyond description but are comforted in the knowledge that he is finally back together with Mom. He never stopped asking about her. A huge thank you to the staff and management of Haven Hill. Dad received outstanding care and compassion while he was a resident there for the past 27 months. A private family gathering will be held at Dad's house on Christina Lake. To send condolences please visit
