Pauline TADEY Obituary

TADEY, Pauline Lee: January 15, 1952 - October 3, 2017. Pauline passed peacefully in the loving company of her husband (Michael), daughter (Samantha), and son (Robert). Pauline was born in North Bay, Ontario, the third daughter of Ralph and Helen Hubble. The Hubbles lived in North Bay for five years then moved to various cities (Calgary, Toronto, etc.) before settling in North Vancouver. Many of Pauline's formative years were spent in North Vancouver. Pauline found her passion for curling at the Capilano and North Shore Winter Clubs where she curled competitively for many years and truly enjoyed the challenge, strategy, pressure, and excitement of the sport. Pauline passed her love of competition and her calm-under-fire mindset on to her children. Pauline and Michael met in Vernon in 1979. They moved from Vancouver to Calgary in 1980 where they lived for 15 years. Robert and Samantha were born there. Another highlight of Pauline's time in Calgary was working closely with her sister Allyson creating and growing Heffalumps & Woozles, a successful children's boutique. In 1996 the family moved to Penticton. Pauline fought an extended, courageous battle with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Disease. Despite this, Pauline was active during the kids' school years as a parent volunteer. She sat on the Parent Advisory Council and helped oversee the preparation, creation, and delivery of the student yearbooks for many years. Pauline also volunteered at the Alzheimer Society British Columbia for more than a decade where she was involved in the annual Ralph Robinson Memorial Golf Tournaments and the Investors Group Walks for Memories. Pauline was awarded the Alzheimer Society British Columbia's 2017 Award of Community Service. In her passing Pauline rejoins her mother (Helen) and father (Ralph), In-laws (Dusan and Lorraine), sister (Jackie) and brother-in-law (John). In addition to Michael, Samantha, and Robert, Pauline's passing is being mourned by her sister (Allyson), brothers-in-law (Roger and David), nephews (David, Patrick, and Christian), niece (Lisa) and their respective families. Also mourning her passing are extended family members in Ontario and West Vancouver. Lastly, Pauline is remembered by countless, dear friends across the country as a loving, thoughtful, generous, compassionate, and courageous individual who fought, without complaint, for years against her disease. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2018. We will gather in the Bufflehead Cappuccino Bar at the Penticton Lakeside Resort at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society British Columbia (http://www.alzheimer.ca/bc) or to Alpha-1 Canada (http://www.alpha1canada.ca/).

Mike, Rob, Sam and extended family
Pauline was one of the nicest persons I have ever met! She always had something nice and caring to say. She was gracious and kind. I enjoyed particularly being on the Dry Grad committee with Pauline when Kristin and Rob graduated. We were fortunate to spend some social time as well with Mike and Pauline at mutual friends' home over the years. I always appreciated my interactions with Pauline. I am going to miss her colourful posts on FB. Pauline was a beautiful person and will be missed. With sincere sympathy to you all. Debbie and Raymond Belanger and Kristin, Richard and Harlow.
