GREER, Robin: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and caring husband, Dad and Papa, Robin Greer. Robin passed away peacefully at Moog & Friends Hospice on September 3, just weeks shy of his 84th birthday. Robin was born in Moneymore, Northern Ireland on September 24th, 1938. He started his career as a teacher and was a part of the popular showband, The Snowdrifters, before meeting the love of his life, Rosemary. They enjoyed a happy life in Moneymore, surrounded by family and friends. However, they bravely dreamed of the adventure that a life in Canada might hold and immigrated to Boissevain, Manitoba in 1972 with their young children, Julie and Kathy. They made many great friends in Manitoba and welcomed their son, Gavin during those years. But, Robin dreamed of a place where he could golf year round and convinced Rosemary to move the family to Penticton in 1981. Robin worked as a Technology Education teacher at Magherafelt Intermediate, Boissevain Collegiate, Pen-Hi, McNicoll Park and Skaha Lake Middle schools. He was a member at the Penticton Golf and Country Club from the day he moved to Penticton, enjoying rounds of golf with his many friends 5 days a week until the day he became ill. Robin was a gentle man, known to tell a great story and enjoy a good laugh. He was a Renaissance man of sorts as he was accomplished in music, sports, woodworking, and many forms of art. Robin will mostly be remembered for his kind heart, his love of laughter, family and friends, and his relentless pursuit of the perfect 18 holes of golf. Robin will be truly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Rosemary, children Julie (Ron), son-in-law Wade, and Gavin (Randi), and grandchildren Liam, Elisa, Cole, Will, Mairin, Mya and Camryn. But, we are grateful that he is with Kathy and together, they are watching over us from above. A celebration of Robin's life will be held on November 12 at 2:30pm at the Penticton Golf and Country Club. In memory of Robin, please consider making a donation to Moog & Friends Hospice House. Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us everyday.
