Ruby Palmer (Nee Mintenko) April 7, 1943 - August 12, 2025 Ruby Palmer, age 82, of Penticton BC, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at Moog and Friends Hospice in Penticton BC after a long struggle with Myasthenia Gravis and Lymphoma. Ruby was born on April 7, 1943 in Canora Saskatchewan to Polly and Bill Mintenko. The family had a farm in Stenen Saskatchewan where Ruby grew up learning how to make the best Ukrainian perogies and beet rolls and her mother's baking. After she graduated high school she moved to Winnipeg for Business College, and then shortly after moved with her best friend across the country to Vancouver in 1965 where she met the love of her life, Dave Palmer. They married in 1967 in Vancouver and a week later moved to Powell River. The call of the Okanagan was strong and when opportunities presented themselves, they moved to Winfield and later Naramata where they raised their two children, Barb and Rob. Ruby and Dave enjoyed a love of traveling together, annual camping trips to Quadra Island with the kids and fishing there where she could brag she caught the biggest fish. After years of working at the Naramata Medical Clinic, Ruby retired and began to take art classes where she developed a passion for painting. Her art was mostly landscape watercolours from various holiday locations as well as scenery from around the Okanagan. Ruby was always thrilled when someone else enjoyed one of her paintings so much that they would want to bring it back to hang on the walls in their own home. Ruby is predeceased by her parents and her brother Frank (Rose) Mintenko. She is survived by her husband Dave, her two children Barb (Jay Cleroux) and Rob (Christina), and her grandchildren Abbey, Jasper and Noah Cleroux, and Rylan and Charlotte Palmer. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion and care given over the years by Dr Tim Phillips of Sage Medical Clinic in Penticton and his staff. Thank you to all the nursing staff at the Penticton Regional Hospital 2nd floor Infusion clinic for assisting with her weekly visits, as well as the Moog and Friends Hospice for the final days of care given to Ruby. There will be no service as per Ruby's request.
