Samantha MCLEAN Obituary
MCLEAN, Samantha Calder: January 4, 1996 - August 22, 2025: It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Samantha Calder McLean of Peachland on August 22nd at the age of 29. She leaves behind her beloved partner Nickolas Casey of Peachland, her loving brother Matt McLean (Sage) of Calgary and her loving mother, Lonnine Hughes (Brian) of Penticton. Samantha was predeceased by her father Scott McLean in 2017. She also leaves behind the Casey family as well her two black cats, Boo and Norman Bates. Born in Kelowna on January 4, 1996 she moved to Peachland when she was 5 and was a member of the last Kindergarten Class in Peachland Primary School. She loved Peachland and could never see herself living anywhere else. Whether a teenager down at swim bay jumping off the high dive with her buddies, out on friend's boats, or just enjoying her paddleboard, Samantha had a love affair with Okanagan Lake. Any opportunity she had you could find her taking a dip after work, or floating around on her paddleboard or sitting on her favourite dock in Peachland, taking in the wonderous scenery - she said the water helped her decompress. Samantha was a physiotherapy assistant at Penticton Regional Hospital since 2019- she loved her job and had a wonderful working relationship with her colleagues, all of whom she considered friends. She took a genuine interest in all of her patients and promoted movement as the best part of healing. She had so many friends and took the time to spend as much time with all of them as she could. Whether she knew them from school, or work, or just met them, she loved being around her friends having fun, laughing, fishing, camping, quadding. She enjoyed being out in nature and having a good time. She was also a fantastic cook and even better baker. She made the best charcuterie boards, and her cheesecakes were out of this world. If you were feeling down you could expect a dozen chockie chip cookies to be delivered - to her food was love and she doled out a lot of her baking to lucky recipients. Hallowe'en was her favourite "holiday" and she was so excited that this year it fell on a Friday - she taught herself the theme to the movie "Halloween" on the piano and could be heard playing it in January or July with a huge smile on her face. She loved spooky movies and couldn't wait until October when there would be Halloween movie marathons that she would watch over and over with absolute delight, tucked up snug on the couch. Samantha was a beautiful person inside and out. She always thought of others before herself. She was funny, outgoing and vivacious. Her smile not only lit up a room but lit up your soul, and her laugh was infectious. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. When you think of Samantha, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest; she would expect that of everyone she knew. She leaves a terrible void in all of our lives and we shall all miss her so very much. A Celebration of Life will be held for Samantha on October 4, 2025 at the Peachland Community Centre starting at 4 pm. Rest in Peace and love Hambone - we love you.
