Soren KRAK Obituary
KRAK, Soren Kristian: September 19, 1947 - October 23, 2021 Soren Krak of Peachland, BC passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 at the age of 74, after a brief battle with cancer. Soren was born to Inge Vibeke Krak and Kristian Kjoller Krak in Allinge, Bornholm, Denmark. Soren met the love of his life, Hanne, 53 years ago while taking flying lessons. They married shortly after and had their first child, Michael. Dad completed his Royal Danish Navy Machinist trade in 1971 before they immigrated to Canada in 1972 and settled down in Kindersley, Saskatchewan where they added two more children, Susan and Allan, to their family. During his time in Kindersley, Soren established a metal fabrication and machining business, where he built service rigs for the oil industry. Some of his fondest memories are of his working days out on the prairies. Soren and Hanne fulfilled their life-long dream of retiring to the Okanagan Valley in 1990, but it turns out Soren's "retirement" was short-lived as he soon started a concrete pool and spa business and later built hillside funiculars. It should be noted that all of Soren's business ventures were started with like minded people who became great, lifelong friends. A talented craftsman, Soren enjoyed working with both metal and wood, creating beautiful pieces for his friends and family. He could not resist tinkering in his wood-working shop on any given day. An avid traveller, Soren enjoyed exploring many exotic locations around the world with Hanne, visiting almost every corner of the globe in their 50 years together. While he always relished new adventures, Soren also loved returning home to Denmark to visit his sister, Lisbeth, and her family, with whom he shared a very special bond. Soren will be remembered for his love of friends, family and life itself. He was a consummate host and his ability to make people laugh was legendary. His humour and sarcasm were infamous - all of his family and friends knew it well. After Hanne passed, he also developed a talent for cooking and took over her tradition of waffle breakfasts with great enthusiasm! Soren was predeceased by his wife Hanne (Peachland) and is survived by son Michael and wife Lisa (Winnipeg), daughter Susan and partner Ray (Victoria), and son Allan and wife Lana (Kelowna) and his Winnipeg grandchildren Sophia and Aidan, and Kelowna grandchildren Victoria and Adam. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the West Kelowna Palliative Care Unit, including Dr. Bursey and Nurse Maureen who provided Soren and the family with so much support. Their exceptional care and compassion were very much appreciated during this difficult time. They would also like to mention the kind people at the Peachland Guardian pharmacy. A big thank you to all of Soren's amazing friends and neighbours who supported him throughout - you meant so much to him and his family.
