Timothy POLUKOSHKO Obituary

POLUKOSHKO, Timothy Michael: July 27, 1951 - November 9, 2020 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Tim Polukoshko. He was 69 years old. Tim passed away after falling off a 200 meter cliff while hiking to a hidden cave OR he was attacked by a pack of hungry wolves while camping in the tundra OR he was kidnapped by pirates while fishing in the Caribbean-just use your imagination. If he died too soon it was supposed to be on one of his adventures, and not suddenly and unexpectedly like this. Tim is survived by his two sons and their wives, Thor (Chelsea) and Karl (Michelle) Polukoshko; his grandchildren, Mila, Taliah, Odin, and Anna; his siblings, Terri McDonald (Dave) and Will (Val) Polukoshko; and his nephew and niece and their families, Josh McDonald (Sasha) and Jamie Pigeon (Noel). Tim lived most of his life in the Okanagan, settling in Penticton with his parents when he was in his early teens. He worked for Vincor Wines for over 40 years, starting there in 1978 when it was Casabello Winery (before wine was a thing in the Okanagan). He retired in 2012 with plans to travel the world. While COVID-19 put a damper on his plans, he was able to travel to South America and Mexico in the last couple years. Tim enjoyed golfing, camping, fly fishing, playing soccer, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was always there to help out and always had a smile on his face. You could count on him to be as stubborn as hell in some situations, but also to have an answer for everything and to be the most easy-going person ever. He wasn't the type of person to show his emotions a lot, so he probably didn't say "I love you" enough, but it was clear from how much he did for his family that he loved us all very much. We love you, dad/grandpa. Life won't be the same without you. A celebration of life where all of his friends and family can meet together will be held at a later date.

I've know Tim for over 20 years through work and socially. He always had a smile and a kind word. He loved being "keeper" on the pitch and was a proud Ironman finisher. Rest In peace, Tim.

Played soccer with Tim for over 30 years. He always always has a smile on him and carry a calm manner on the pitch. We will miss him on the soccer pitch. My condolences to his family for their loss of this wonderful man.

To Willie and the entire Polukoshko family, so sorry to hear about Tim.I think I have known Tim and Willie most of my life, what a pair of characters.Tim and I have played so many soccer games together and against each over the many years. So sorry to Willie and family about the news of Tim's sudden passing.I knew Tim and Will most of my life. What a pair! Tim was always such a kind and funny guy.I have no idea how many soccer games we played together. No matter the outcome of the game Tim also had a good story after the game and that big smile.Nothing seemed to bother him. He will be missed. Grant Rutherglen.

Journey well, Tim! Always an example of sportsmanship, Tim valued each game for the time and memories shared, win or lose. Will be missed on and off the pitch. Thanks for laughs and saves, Tim!

I first met Tim at Casabello wines in Penticton when he joined the team in 1978. I had been there since 1972. We worked hard and had a lot of fun too, in the early days of the winery. Even though we only saw each other a few times over the years since I left the winery in 1994 and Tim went on to Oliver to continue working, we always reminisced about the "old" days and had a laugh or two. He was a good man and has left this world way to soon. He will be missed. Donna and I send our sincere thoughts of sympathy to Tim's whole family. And especially to Terri , who worked together with us at the winery. We are very sorry for your loss. May his memory always be a blessing.

I am very sorry to learn of Tim's recent passing and I extend to you, his family and friends, my sincere condolences. I knew Tim and his family - parents Mike and Marie and siblings Teresa and Will (not to mention "Boots" the family cat and "Tiny" the dog) - many years ago in Winfield. The Hayes family had a summer cabin on Wood Lake and each July we spent two weeks there. That would have been in the early and mid-1960s. Through our stays at the cabin, we came to know Tim and his family very well and we spent much fun time together...at our cabin (corner of Lower Wood Lake Road and Clement Road), in the Polukoshko family home and store, and splashing around in the cool and refreshing waters of Wood Lake. We lost touch with Tim and his family many years ago, but I have often thought of the Polukoshko family and the happy times that we had together. I am sorry for your loss.

Saddened to hear the news of Tim's passing. First met Tim in 1976 and shared a number of years of great memories with him through Men's Basketball.
My heart felt condolences go to his children...Thor and Karl and their families (whom I have never had the honour of meeting personally)...and also to Tim's brother Willie and wife Val...along with his sister Terri and husband Dave and the rest of Tim's extended family.
I was fortunate to reconnect with Tim again while visiting Penticton in December 2019...while we were attending a dance recital of our grandchildren. Even though time had passed...Our connection was still strong!
Tim always had a great smile...laughed easily...and I had been looking forward to doing more reminiscing with him over a few drinks on future trips to Penticton.
I'll miss that.
Rest in Peace Timmy...you will never be forgotten!
