Zvonko Balija Obituary
Zvonko was born in Zabok, Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1950. He spent his working life in Alberta where he was an office tower building manager in Calgary and then moved to Kelowna upon his retirement.
Zvonko was preceded by his father Stjepan, mother Antonia, son Donald and brother Vladimir.
Beloved husband of Ella Balija, father of Ksenija Bogdanovic and grandfather of Danja Dubravac passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in his 90th year after a short battle with cancer. Zvonko will be fondly remembered by his wife Ella and many relatives and friends.
Heartfelt thanks to Pastor Ed Skutshek, many friends and above all to Zel Balija, Shannon Van Buren and Shirley Matzanke for helping Zvonko in this last phase of his life. Special thank you to the caring staff and doctors at both the oncology department at Kelowna General Hospital and the Hospice House.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 1162 Hudson Road, West Kelowna, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grace Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
