Beatrice Drader Obituary

Beatrice Joyce Drader (née Sklar), beloved wife, mother grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 6, 2026, at the Palliative Care Home in Cudworth, Saskatchewan, after a sudden and aggressive brain tumour. She was 82 years old.

Beatrice was born on September 21, 1943, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Mike and Anne Sklar, both of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her beloved sister, Louise Sklar, who passed away on July 6, 2021.

Beatrice married the love of her life, Harry Drader, on April 28, 1962. They shared a loving life together for over 63 years. Together they built many memories over the years, living for a time on Vancouver Island before settling in Cudworth, Saskatchewan in 2007.

Beatrice will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Harry; her children Wendy Huot (Dennis Huot), Carrie Stern (David Stern), and Corey Drader; her grandchildren Mitch Drader, Dallas Stern, and Colby Stern; and her great-grandchildren Harper and Maverick. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness.

Beatrice was a very kind and generous soul who was always giving to others, whether they were friends or complete strangers. She had a deep love for crafts and spent countless hours creating beautiful cross-stitch pieces, including pictures, plaques, and ornaments. She completed thousands of pieces over the years and even ran a website where fellow crafters could share patterns and ideas.

Her caring nature extended beyond her hobbies. For many years she lovingly knitted hats for the cancer unit at Royal University Hospital, donating around 100 hats every year for infants, children, and adults undergoing treatment.

Beatrice and Harry also shared a special love for their Yorkie terriers, who brought them much joy and companionship.

A Celebration of Beatrice's Life will be held at a later date. Beatrice will be cremated and laid to rest in the South Hill Cemetery, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan beside her beloved sister Louise. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Beatrice may be made to the Cudworth Nursing Home, 607 4th Avenue or Box 190, Cudworth, SK, S0K 1B0.

She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her generosity, and the quiet ways she made the world a warmer place for those around her.

Bea and I were face to face friends in the beginning, and later continued as long distance friends for over a decade. We spoke on the phone often, sometimes every day. We shared recipes, complained about the weather, commiserated about family, discussed the news, which was always bad, and tried to figure out what was happening to the world. I desperately miss those conversations. But I am conforted by the belief that Bea is with her sister, Louise, together as when they were children living in their aunt's boarding house. Thank you Bea for your friendship. I will never forget you.
