Floyd Cochran Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Floyd Cochran of Langley, B.C. He passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, Doreen and family. Left to cherish Floyd's memory is his wife, Doreen (Ulvild) of 63 years, and their children: Brenda (Forrest), Laurie (Walt), Nancy (Kirby), Clark (Julie) as well as 6 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters; Shirley (Howard) Gange, Marva (Don) Lubyk and Debbie (Barry) Salmond as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Florence Cochran of Prince Albert, his sister Irene (Charles) Dent, and brothers; Robert, Daryl, Robin, & Bruce. Floyd was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on April 10, 1938. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church as well as being an active member in the Jaycee's for many years. As a young man he worked with his father, Joseph Cochran in the construction industry. He went on to become the District Manager of Engineered Homes Ltd in Prince Albert and surrounding areas. He was a very significant part in the development of the Crescent Heights area in Prince Albert, and to this day the neighbourhood continues to be a wonderful community. A quote Floyd lived by:" Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail". In the spring of 1968 he moved his family west to Langley, B.C to begin a new adventure. Floyd was a very successful businessman who also spent a great deal of time giving back to his community. Floyd had a great sense of adventure and along with Doreen and their family travelled to many places in the world. Floyd's greatest joy in life was his incredible love for his family and never missed an opportunity to express his appreciation for such a wonderful life. He was a beloved mentor and confidante who will forever be remembered for his infectious laughter and incredible generosity. He was a man of great stature and unwavering loyalty to all who knew him. Floyd was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

I wish to share a point that my mentor Floyd told me one day regarding family property he lived on in Murrayville
"You don´t make planning decisions for the future based on commissions that don´t care about your community!"
Now that property serves as an Operations Centre, environmental area, and walking trails!

I share with the family in the remembrance of a great father, grandfather, husband, businessman and LEADER!

You mastered the Dim Sum lingo down pat. Har Gau (prawn dumplings) and chicken feet lunches will never be the same without you.

Thank you for the friendship and for all the blonde jokes.

Rest in peace, Floyd.

Floyd in the short couple of years that I was blessed to get to know you I found you to be an incredible man of your word and an absolute pleasure to spend some time with. I enjoyed your stories and your devoted love for your family. I am sorry we will never get a chance to have that crab dinner but I will always remember such a great man as you.
I hope that you got to make peace with the things you shared as I know it was important.
Love you Floyd and may we meet again one day cause I would be more than happy share more stories.
