Gabrielle Marie Alice "Gaby" Ackerman

1929 - 2023

Passed away peacefully at Muskoka Shores Care Community, Gravenhurst, on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the age of 94. Gaby was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert "Ab" Giles Ackerman (1986). She will be sadly missed by her children Robert (Cassandra), and Brenda Bates (Carson), as well as her cherished grandchildren David, Heidi, Gab, and Chloe. Gaby is also survived by her brother George of Warman, SK. She was predeceased by her son Richard and her sisters Pauline Bremner and Helen Murray.

Gaby was born in Prince Albert, SK in 1929 where she met and fell in love with Ab. Gaby moved to Windsor, ON in 1949 to marry Ab, who had been hired as a design engineer at Chrysler in Detroit. They made the move to Oakville in 1957, where they devoted their lives to raising 3 children, working, and volunteering. The family cottaged on Kahshe Lake near Gravenhurst for many years. It was the place Gaby and Ab loved most. Gaby was an active member of the Angela Bruce Chapter of IODE (including serving as Regent), and volunteerred at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for many years.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Spring with interment in Barkway Cemetery, Gravenhurst.

Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society in Gaby's honour would be greatly appreciated.
