Kirk Brayford Obituary

Two things Kirk loved in life was being in the outdoors and playing bridge. In late November, he told his Prince Albert bridge friends that he was going spotting deer. When he did not return, and started missing bridge games, Kirk was declared a missing person. In January, a snowmobiler found Kirk. He was located beside his car, stuck in a secluded spot on an ATV trail 20 km west of MacDowall. It was bitterly cold and Kirk did not have a cell phone. Kirk was insulin dependent. The autopsy indicates that lack of insulin resulted in Kirk's death from diabetic keto acidosis while trying unsuccessfully to extricate his car.

Kirk was predeceased by his parents, Daryl and Laura, and his only brother, Barry. Kirk had no children, but he will be remembered fondly by his one remaining aunt, his many cousins, his step family, and Barry's step family.

Kirk grew up at Waskesiu Lake where he was constantly either on the water fishing, or under the water diving to find fish hooks. Kirk's love of Waskesiu Lake carried over to adulthood.

As Waskesiu Lake was a special place for Kirk, half of his ashes will be scattered there, and his aunt Shirley Nickels will inter the rest of Kirk's ashes in his mother's grave. There will be no ceremony. To share condolences and stories with family and friends please visit www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
